Discovering Milazzo Winery

The Milazzo Winery is a well-established family-run winemaking business, located in the heart of Campobello di Licata, a charming Sicilian village nestled between Agrigento, Caltanisetta, and Licata. For five generations, the Milazzo family has passionately devoted themselves to viticulture, enhancing local winemaking traditions while promoting innovation and experimentation.

In the 1970s and 80s, the Milazzo Winery was among the first to invest in the vinification of indigenous grape varieties, helping to revitalise the ancient Sicilian wine tradition. Thanks to its pioneering vision, it became the first winery in Sicily to produce Metodo Classico, earning acclaim and recognition.

Today, Giuseppina Milazzo and Saverio Lo Leggio lead the business with dedication, following the path traced by previous generations and honouring family traditions, with a constant commitment to sustainability and organic farming, to preserve the environment and the territory for future generations.

The vineyards of the Milazzo Winery span 97 hectares out of the total 149, set in the picturesque landscape of the Baronia Lands, at an altitude of about 400 meters. The different parcels are characterised by a unique terroir, thanks to their morphological specificities and the typically Mediterranean climate, with mild summers, harsh winters, and light breezes that favour an excellent temperature range.

Among the cultivated grape varieties, the native Inzolia, Catarratto, Nero d’Avola, Nerello Cappuccio and Perricone stand out, accompanied by the more international Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Viognier and Pinot Noir. The company philosophy is centred on organic viticulture, certified since 2012, and on reducing greenhouse gas emissions in all production stages.

The Milazzo Winery offers a wide range of wines, including characterful whites and reds, as well as various expressions of Metodo Classico, in which the Chardonnay grape plays a central role. The kingfisher, a water bird of rare beauty symbolising pristine environments, adorns the neck of almost all bottles produced, underlining Milazzo’s commitment to environmental protection and the guarantee of authenticity of its products.
