Don Antonio – Reserve, Nero D’Avola Sicily DOC
Don Antonio offers an intense and enveloping structure, highlighted by succulent tannins and a richness of flavors like blackberry and dark chocolate. Distinctly varietal, it presents clear hints of licorice and asphalt, expressing great intensity in a balanced and elegant manner. Produced from Nero d’Avola grapes harvested between the end of September and the beginning of October, Don Antonio matures for 12 months in new French oak barriques, followed by a further refinement of approximately 12 months in the bottle. With an alcohol content of 15.00% Vol., Don Antonio is an excellent example of how complex and rich a red wine can be.
The Morgante winery, located in the Agrigento region of Sicily, is one of the most significant wine realities in the area. Led by the Morgante family for five generations, this family winery has worked hard to overcome the natural difficulties of Sicilian land and the operational challenges of its vineyards. Despite obstacles, the Morgante family has maintained the humility and dedication to the hard work of the land, producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique character of their region. Morgante is particularly known for its dedication to the native Sicilian grape Nero d’Avola, a commitment that is brilliantly represented in their flagship wine, Don Antonio. A focus on sustainability is a core value for Morgante, enacted through rational use of natural resources, continuous purification of wastewater, and recycling of packaging and materials used.
