Cuordilava, Dolce & Gabbana – Etna red DOC

Donnafugata’s ‘Cuordilava D&G’ Etna Rosso is a sumptuous and explosive wine, produced with 100% Nerello Mascalese on the North side of Etna. Its long and careful aging, in wood and bottle, gives it warmth and softness, resulting in a silky and enveloping sip, accompanied by fine and well-integrated tannins and a delicate minerality that refreshes the palate.

On the nose, Cuordilava expresses a broad and fragrant bouquet in which the notes of wild berries, orange peel, and cinnamon are refreshed by slight balsamic and floral hints, among which the aroma of lavender stands out. The bottle’s packaging, designed by Dolce & Gabbana, is inspired by the color of magma and the traditional motifs of the Sicilian cart, with the image of the smoking Etna at the center of the label.

Produced in the municipalities of Randazzo and Castiglione di Sicilia, between 700 and 750 meters above sea level, Cuordilava comes from a mountain terroir with sandy and volcanic soils, rich in mineral elements. The harvest is carried out in October, followed by a careful selection of the bunches and destemming. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, with a maceration on the skins of 10-12 days. Finally, the wine ages for over a year in French oak barrels, followed by a further refinement in the bottle for at least 24 months before being launched on the market.
