Selezione di Famiglia – Superior white PDO, Organic

The Family Selection is a high-end wine, produced with Chardonnay grapes hand-harvested from vineyards over 30 years old in the Milici area. These vineyards, located on a marl plateau, facing east and with a highly calcareous clay component, give life to a wine with a decisive and distinctive character.

The grapes are delicately destemmed, subjected to cold maceration for about 24 hours and pressed with closed-lung pneumatic presses. Fermentation takes place partly in steel tanks and partly in oak barrels, where the wine matures for 12 months with continuous batônnage. The result is a wine with a light yellow color with green reflections, mineral on the nose with references to flint, notes of tropical fruit, fig pulp, and candied citrus. On the palate, it is extremely elegant, full and persistent, with a balance and freshness that make it a wine with great aging potential.

The Milazzo winery, located in Campobello di Licata, Sicily, is a family business with a winemaking tradition that has been handed down for five generations. Certified organic management, respect for traditions, and innovation characterize the approach of this winery, today led by Giuseppina Milazzo and Saverio Lo Leggio. The vineyards, spread over 97 hectares in a territory of 149, are located on hills that vary in morphology and terroir, at an altitude of about 400 meters. Among the rows, both native and international grape varieties are cultivated, with a focus on sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint. The company produces a wide range of wines, including white, red, and traditional method sparkling wines, where Chardonnay plays a leading role. The kingfisher, the symbol of the company, guarantees the authenticity of Milazzo’s products, born from an untouched environment and cared for with respect.
