Mozia – Sicilia DOC

Mozia is born in the Whitaker Estate of Tasca d’Almerita, located on the small island of Mozia, within the Natural Reserve of the Stagnone of Marsala. The vines grow on eight hectares of sandy soil, rich in limestone, in a peculiar habitat between salt pans and sea. The unique position of the vineyards gives the wine an unmistakable profile: the ripe fruit meets the salty and brackish notes of the sea, creating a blend of great personality, a true expression of a unique terroir.

The wine is straw-yellow in color, bright and shiny. The bouquet is rich and multifaceted, with floral scents, lime and citrus aromas, fruity notes, and iodine hints that recall the sea breeze. The taste is characterized by a savory freshness, with juicy and persistent notes of ripe yellow fruit, which melt into a pleasantly brackish finish.

The wine fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for about 15 days. Afterward, the wine matures in stainless steel in the presence of fine lees for about 5 months before being bottled.

Tasca D’Almerita

Tasca d’Almerita is one of the most historical and prestigious wineries in Sicily. Founded in 1830, it has gone through eight generations, guarding with passion and respect the traditions of the past and always aiming towards innovation. In addition to the historic Regaleali Estate, Tasca d’Almerita boasts four other estates throughout Sicily: Capofaro in Salina, Tascante on Etna, the historic Whitaker Estate on the ancient island of Mozia, and Sallier de La Tour in Monreale. Each Estate has its own marked personality and tells a different story of Sicily.

The commitment to sustainability is a fundamental value for Tasca d’Almerita. For 11 years, the winery has been adhering to the SOStain and VIVA projects, aimed at accurately assessing and measuring the level of sustainability of the company as a whole. The aim is to preserve these places for future generations, with constant attention to the safeguarding of each individual ecosystem.
