Discovering Sosalt
The history of Sosalt dates back to 1922 when a group of Trapani entrepreneurs, traditionally linked to salt production, founded the Italian Salt Export Company (SIES). In 1997, after 75 years, SIES merged with Sosalt, which was established in 1989 to market the salt produced, creating the current Sosalt SpA.
From its inception, the company aimed to optimise salt cultivation and harvesting while respecting the natural ecosystem. Thanks to its production potential, Sosalt has made its mark on both national and European markets. The company’s salt pans cover around 800 hectares and guarantee a production of approximately 100,000 tonnes.
The industrial facility spans an area of 20,000 square meters, with 4,000 square meters covered, allowing all stages of the process – handling, washing, drying, and storage – to be managed in a closed and hygienic environment. In 2013, to further enhance the production system, Sosalt opened a new 10,000-square-meter facility, with 1,600 square meters covered, equipped with modern packaging lines primarily dedicated to meeting demand from foreign markets.
